Tertiary phosphine aluminohydride complexes of chromium-, molybdenum-, and tungsten-(II)

Abstract

The syntheses of the aluminohydride complexes [(dmpe)2HCr(µ-H)2AlH(µ-H)]2[dmpe = 1,2bis(dimethylphosphino)ethane], [(Me3P)4HM(µ-H)2AlH(µ-H)]2(M = Mo or W), and [(Me3P)4ClW(µ-H)2AlH(µ-H)]2 are reported. The 1H, 31P, and 27Al n.m.r. spectra are reported; all the molecules are non-rigid undergoing metal–hydride exchanges; the Al atoms are five-co-ordinate. The hydrolysis of aluminohydrides to give polyhydrides is discussed.
