Synthesis and some reactions of tris(cyclopentadienyl)-uranium(IV) hydrides; crystal structure of [U(C5H4But)3H]

Abstract

The uranium(IV) hydrides [U(C5H4R)3H](R = SiMe31 or But2) which are thermally very stable, were isolated from the reactions of the corresponding chlorides with KBEt3H. The hydridic character of 1 and 2 was demonstrated by their reactions with chloroform and alcohols, and by treatment with NEt3HBPh4, which gives the cationic complexes [U(C5H4R)3][BPh4]. The crystal structure of 2 has been determined.
