Studies on polyoxo- and polyperoxo-metalates. Part 1. Tetrameric heteropolyperoxotungstates and heteropolyperoxomolybdates

Abstract

New heteropolyperoxometalates of the type R3[XO4{MO(O2)2}4][R = N(C6H13)4+, N(PPh3)2+ or ⅓[Co(en)3]3+(en = ethane-1,2-diamine); X = P or As; M = Mo or W] have been characterized by IR, Raman and where appropriate 31P NMR spectroscopy. Epoxidation of cyclic and linear alkenes by these species with H2O2 as co-oxidant has been studied; [AsO4{WO(O2)2}4]3– was found to be the most effective. The oxidation of alcohols by [PO4{WO(O2)2}4]3– with H2O2 has been investigated.
