The first co-ordination compounds with gold–germanium bonds of the general formula (Ph3P)nAuGeCl3(n= 1–3) have been synthesized in high yields by the insertion of GeCl2(from its 1,4-dioxane complex) into the corresponding AuCl complexes, and structurally characterized.
