Ion–solvent interactions of some ions in dipolar aprotic solvents at 25 °C

Abstract

Potential parameters for effective ion–ion interactions have been obtained from conductivity measurements and have been shown to reflect clearly the solvation properties of the solvents and the different behaviour of the ions in different solvents. The results correspond to the state of an infinitely dilute solution. The donor–acceptor properties of the solvent and of the ions are also essential for solvation. The diameter and the gas-phase dipole moment of the solvent molecule contain unsuitable information for the interpretation of ionic solvation.
