Horse radish peroxidase-catalysed oxidative coupling of methyl sinapate to give diastereoisomeric spiro dimers

Abstract

The oxidative coupling of methyl sinapate with H2O2/horse radish peroxidase at pH 4 in the presence of methanol gives dimeric spiro structures of a novel type. The crystal structures of two diastereoisomers have been determined. The coupling reaction shows some threo selectivity.
