Catalytic synthesis of 3-vinyl-2,5-dihydrofurans from yne-enes promoted by photochemically activated metal–allenylidene LnRu[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]CR2 complex

Abstract

The ruthenium(II)–allenylidene salt [(p-cymene)(PCy3)ClRu[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]C[double bond, length half m-dash]CPh2]PF6 acts as an olefin metathesis catalyst precursor for the yne-ene transformation of the mixed propargylic allyl ethers HC[triple bond, length half m-dash]C–CR2OCH2CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2 into 3-vinyl-2,5-dihydrofurans; initial photochemical irradiation efficiently promotes the catalytic activity.
