One-pot synthesis of a magnetic polypyrrole aerogel with 1D/2D hybrid nanostructures for microwave absorption

Abstract

Magneto-electric composites have become a research hotspot due to their unique functions and tunability. This work describes a one-pot approach to the design and synthesis of a magnetic polypyrrole aerogel with 1D/2D hybrid nanostructures. We demonstrate that the microwave absorption performance of the hybrid aerogel can be improved by tuning the magneto-electric coupling hierarchical microstructure and their phase ratio. The as-synthesized sample exhibited a minimum reflection loss of −42.6 dB centered at 12.5 GHz and an effective absorption bandwidth reaching 7.13 GHz at 3.3 mm. This work provides a favorable strategy for the synthesis and application of high-performance lightweight structures and advanced microwave absorbers.
