Microcalorimetric studies. The enthalpy of formation of hexadecacarbonylhexarhodium, Rh6(CO)16

Abstract

The standard enthalpy of formation of Rh6(CO)16 has been determined as ΔH°f[Rh6(CO)16, c]=–577.9 ± 4 kcal mol–1(–2418 ± 17 kJ mol–1) from measurements of the enthalpy of thermal decomposition by high temperature microcalorimetry. The bond enthalpy contributions (Rh–CO) and (Rh–Rh) are estimated at 39.6 and 27.3 kcal mol–1 respectively.
